Supervisor Construction Inspection

Location: Field and office locations in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, including the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia regions. The role requires a physical presence on highway and bridge construction project sites.

Salary: $70,564–$80,187 per year

Transportation construction inspection projects serving PennDOT districts and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

What you will do

• Supervise and support construction inspection staff and technical assistants on highway and bridge projects.
• Review contractor procedures, materials, and completed work for compliance with plans, specifications, and construction standards.
• Prepare, review, and edit inspection reports, quantity calculations, materials documentation, and payment support records.
• Monitor project activities, materials testing, certifications, schedules, costs, change orders, and close-out documentation.
• Resolve construction issues with project, client, construction management, and contractor teams to reduce rework, claims, and delays.
• Support compliance with environmental permits, traffic control requirements, public safety standards, and OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

• 4–8 or more years of highway and/or bridge construction inspection experience, preferably including 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• High school diploma or GED and relevant highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
• Strong combination of certifications such as NICET Level III Highway Construction, ACI/PennDOT Concrete, NECEPT Asphalt, Traffic Control, Guide Rail, Stormwater Management, and OSHA Construction Safety.
• Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike construction documentation systems, including ECMS and iPad-based electronic documentation applications.
• Knowledge of PennDOT highway and bridge specifications, standards, materials, work methods, and construction documentation; strong MS Office and PDF software skills.
• Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, willingness to work nights and weekends when required, and ability to work safely in construction zones.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional Engineering license, which may be considered in lieu of NICET certification.
• Knowledge of PPCC or Kahua project management software.
