Design Manager - Aviation

Salary: $114,345.69–$130,680.78 per year

What you will do

• Lead design and preconstruction activities for airport construction projects, including estimating, scheduling, and procurement planning.
• Develop budgets, cost estimates, and value engineering assessments.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, airport authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and constructability reviews.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, zoning, airport construction, and regulatory requirements.
• Support the transition from preconstruction to construction and provide input on design optimization, materials, and sustainable construction practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management for large-scale airport projects.
• Strong knowledge of airport construction regulations, FAA guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6, as well as cost estimating tools.
• Leadership, negotiation, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Architectural licensure.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• PMP certification or LEED accreditation.
• Experience with public-sector airport authorities or aviation-related infrastructure.
