Ammonia Refrigeration Tech - PM Shift

Location: Austin, Texas, USA; onsite, full-time plant and production-floor work

Salary: $30.00 per hour plus a $0.50 per-hour PM shift differential

What you will do

• Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment, taking readings and adjusting systems to keep them within safe operating parameters.
• Operate and maintain plant utilities, production-floor freezers, and related equipment.
• Adjust freezer temperatures to meet product requirements.
• Record operations, repairs, potential problems, and shift handover information in daily logs.
• Follow GMP, safety, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, PSM, USDA, and FDA procedures.
• Complete assigned maintenance duties and special projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Formal ammonia refrigeration training from an accredited school; HVAC certification may be considered for entry-level apprentice positions.
• 3–5 years of ammonia refrigeration experience in an industrial, high-volume food-processing facility, preferably frozen foods.
• Electrical troubleshooting, schematic reading, mechanical trade skills, hand tools, and refrigeration or utility piping repair and installation experience.
• Ability to write maintenance reports, interpret written and diagrammatic instructions, and apply practical mathematics.
• Must maintain HAZMAT and PSM certifications and pass ammonia respirator fit testing and SCBA testing for assisting purposes.

Nice to have

• Basic arc, TIG, and MIG welding skills.
• Experience with batch cooking, ovens, freezers, coolers, fryers, and high-speed packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of probability and statistical analysis.
