TL;DR
Staff Applications Hardware Engineer (ARM): Developing and testing internal and customer-facing evaluation hardware for Ambiq SoCs with an accent on low-power PCB architecture, system bring-up, and hardware/software debugging. Focus on designing controlled-impedance boards, resolving complex device-level issues, supporting customer hardware reviews, and creating manufacturing and hardware design documentation.

Location: On-site 5 days a week in NW Austin, Texas, United States. Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

What you will do

  • Own PCB hardware architecture, schematic design, layout, development, testing, and system bring-up.
  • Collaborate with software, design, validation, and field engineering teams to analyze and debug complex system-level issues.
  • Conduct customer hardware design reviews, debug customer boards and components, and track issue resolution.
  • Assist with embedded MCU drivers, algorithms, application code, board support packages, automated scripts, and design test cases.
  • Develop manufacturing test procedures and hardware for overseas board builds.
  • Create application notes, knowledgebase articles, hardware design guidelines, and support customers using the hirify.global SDK and hardware platforms.

Requirements

  • MS in ECE with 6+ years of experience or BS in ECE with 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience with hardware architecture, component placement, PCB layout, manufacturing tests, system bring-up, and testing.
  • Experience designing PCB schematics and layouts with Altium Designer, Cadence, or similar tools.
  • Experience with MCU peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, MIPI, USB, I2S, and PDM.
  • Experience with controlled-impedance and high-speed interface PCB layout, hands-on laboratory work, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex hardware/software debugging and device-level issues on SoCs.

Nice to have

  • Wearable-device development experience.
  • Experience with an ARM, Keil, IAR, Eclipse, or other MCU IDE.
