Senior Engineer I - Software (Boot ROM) (Embedded)

Location: NY - Hauppauge, United States; work at the Hauppauge office

Annual base salary: $70,304–$205,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonuses.

What you will do

• Define firmware architecture and develop Boot ROM and bootloader firmware for new and existing products.
• Develop test EC application firmware, software utilities, and firmware test suites for ARM-based embedded processors.
• Design and debug applications on FPGA platforms and evaluation boards for Bootloader functional checks.
• Implement and test functional blocks and interfaces including SPI, UART, SMB, I2C, USB, eSPI, and cryptographic blocks.
• Analyze software requirements, risks, and performance while maintaining design documentation and test reports.
• Work with project, Validation, Test, and QA groups to identify risks, resolve design issues, and make products production-ready.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of software or firmware development experience.
• Embedded programming experience with C and C++ on microcontrollers or embedded processing platforms.
• Proficiency with ARM Cortex-M4 or M55 architecture and features.
• Experience with Keil, Visual Studio, MPLAB, integrated development environments, and embedded debugging tools.
• Experience integrating hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB, plus knowledge of AES, hash, ECC, or PQC cryptographic algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with FPGA or other development platforms and the ability to use electronics laboratory equipment for development and troubleshooting.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microchip PIC microcontrollers and MPLAB IDE.
• Python or Perl scripting experience.
• Knowledge of higher-level languages, object-oriented methodologies, and user-interface implementation for hardware and software debugging.
