Coding Analyst Sr. (Medical Coding)

Location: Virtual eligible, but candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the posted U.S. locations: Durham, NC; Seven Fields, PA; Columbia, SC; Nashville, TN; or Grand Prairie, TX. Hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, aligned with Eastern or Central time. The role is virtual full-time except for required in-person training sessions.

What you will do

• Review and audit medical documentation for accurate ICD-9 and CPT coding.
• Query physicians when code assignments are unclear or not straightforward.
• Train and educate colleagues on coding documentation, claim payment guidelines, and related issues.
• Review CPT and ICD-9 codes annually and implement coding changes.
• Support physicians and providers with coding, documentation, and billing questions.
• Serve as a resource for Coding Analysts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Medical Coder certification through CPC or CCS-P is required.
• Medical coding, documentation review, and reimbursement knowledge.
• Residence within reasonable commuting distance of a posted hirify.global location is required unless an accommodation is granted.

Nice to have

• Experience with the most current CMS Risk Adjustment Model or version.
• AAPC Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
