TL;DR
Staff RF Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and developing RF circuits and phased-array communication hardware for satellites, spacecraft, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other aerospace platforms with an accent on board-level RF electronics, PCB design, simulation, and system-level communications. Focus on taking designs from concept and requirements definition through manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support while presenting design reviews and supporting proposal development.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

What you will do

  • Design RF circuits and systems throughout the full product development lifecycle.
  • Create block diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, routing, simulations, and test designs for RF hardware.
  • Develop phased-array communication components, including RF front-ends, frequency converters, synthesizers, filters, beamformers, power dividers, and antennas.
  • Lead hardware activities from concept and requirements definition through component selection, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
  • Perform RF hardware analysis, testing, and troubleshooting using professional laboratory equipment.
  • Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 8 years of industry experience designing, analyzing, testing, and troubleshooting RF electronics.
  • Experience with CST and ADS simulation tools and Altium EDA tools.
  • Hands-on experience with vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work under U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MATLAB or other programming languages.
  • Experience designing, developing, and qualifying aerospace electronics.
  • Knowledge of worst-case circuit analysis, failure mode and criticality analysis, and reliability analysis.
  • Experience with antenna design and EMI/EMC design and mitigation.
