TL;DR

RF Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and owning the spacecraft's TT&C radios and S-Band link to ensure satellite-to-ground communication with an accent on RF architecture, link budgets, and PCB design. Focus on ensuring EMI/EMC compliance, performing hardware bring-up, and optimizing radio performance for the harsh environment of space.

Location: On-site in Burlingame, California. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual per U.S. Government export regulations.

Salary: $130K – $180K + Equity

What you will do

  • Design the satellite's S-Band radio, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
  • Develop and manage spacecraft radio link budgets across all mission phases.
  • Ensure EMI/EMC compliance and spaceflight reliability throughout the design process.
  • Conduct electrical and RF test/validation at unit, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning in lab and flight environments.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with RF/electrical engineering and PCB design involving RF layout and routing.
  • Proficiency with RF/EM tools such as HFSS, ADS, or MATLAB.
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and practices (e.g., MIL-STD-461).
  • Experience with digital interfaces relevant to radio integration (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

  • Experience designing RF electronics specifically for space or spacecraft systems.
  • Exposure to radiation-tolerant component selection and thermal/vacuum design constraints.
