TL;DR
RF Electrical Engineer (Spacecraft) (S-Band satellite radios): Designing and validating spacecraft telemetry, tracking, and command radios with an accent on RF architecture, PCB design, link budgets, and antenna integration. Focus on EMI/EMC compliance, spaceflight reliability, hardware bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning in laboratory and flight environments.

Location: Burlingame, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end design of the spacecraft S-Band telemetry, tracking, and command radio.
  • Create schematics, RF PCB layouts, and component selections in coordination with antenna design engineers.
  • Develop radio link budgets across all mission phases.
  • Design for EMI/EMC compliance and spaceflight reliability.
  • Perform RF and electrical testing at unit, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Bring up, debug, and tune hardware in laboratory and flight environments.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Hands-on RF and electrical engineering experience, including RF PCB layout and routing.
  • Proficiency with HFSS, ADS, or MATLAB.
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and practices, such as MIL-STD-461.
  • Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet interfaces, plus oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and signal generators.
  • For the U.S. role, eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

  • Experience designing RF or electronics systems for space or spacecraft applications.
  • Exposure to radiation-tolerant component selection and thermal or vacuum design constraints.
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
