Salary: $147,600–$209,520 per year for the Senior RF Test Engineer level. The broader California pay range is $120,054–$209,520.

What you will do

  • Design and build automated RF test systems for component-level and vehicle-level applications in collaboration with RF and antenna engineers.
  • Develop software for test-instrument control, data processing, test sequencing, and reporting.
  • Define RF test-system requirements and specifications.
  • Support spacecraft RF testing, including OTA, EMI/EMC, antenna-pattern measurements, and system checkouts.
  • Perform hands-on environmental testing of RF hardware, including thermal cycling, TVAC, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, and humidity testing.
  • Support spacecraft integration tests in cleanroom facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in ECE, EE, Physics, or a related STEM discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in RF design and/or testing.
  • Experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, communications test systems, and power meters.
  • Software development experience with Python, MATLAB, C, or C++.
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export-control regulations or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends during critical mission milestones.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in ECE, EE, Physics, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Familiarity with IP networking, Ethernet-connected instruments, CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-422, and RS-485.
  • Knowledge of RF link budgets, thermal noise, noise figure, EVM, P1dB, spurs, receiver sensitivity, antenna testing, RF schematics, and RF electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with GNU Radio, software-defined radios, GPS receivers, and large frequency- and time-domain datasets.
  • Familiarity with space-rated avionics test standards, including SMC-S-016, GSFC-STD-7000, and MIL-STD-461.
