TL;DR
Analog/RF Layout Engineer (Analog/RFIC, CMOS/BiCMOS): Developing and verifying analog and RFIC layouts from circuit building blocks through top-cell verification while contributing to Atlas-based hardware acceleration, with an accent on advanced process nodes, tapeouts, and validated design flows. Focus on designing test automation hardware, implementing component-to-system validation with Python, LabVIEW, and MATLAB, and performing high-speed and RF measurements in the lab.

Location: New York, NY; work in person at the NYC headquarters when not traveling. Travel domestically and internationally for up to 25% of the time. Relocation support is provided.

Salary: $130,000–$175,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

Company

Arena Physica develops Atlas, an AI platform that applies physics-grounded intelligence to verify, debug, and optimize hardware across its lifecycle.

What you will do

  • Develop and verify analog and RFIC layouts in advanced CMOS and BiCMOS process nodes, from building blocks through IC top-cell verification.
  • Participate in tapeouts for high-performance analog and RFIC designs using validated design flows.
  • Build test automation capabilities, define test plans and methodologies, and maintain quality across component-level and full-system validation.
  • Design and commission test automation hardware platforms and support PCB design integrations using Altium and Cadence OrCAD.
  • Develop automated validation procedures and scripts with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and similar tools; perform laboratory measurements and analyze test data.
  • Collaborate with design, software, and ML engineering teams, support DFT and design reviews, and diagnose hardware issues with customers when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as an electrical engineer focused on test automation in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with PCB and PCBA design tools including Altium and Cadence OrCAD.
  • Experience with USB, I2C, I2S, CSI, Ethernet, SPI, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, and serial communication protocols.
  • Experience with analog, mixed-signal, high-speed, and RF measurements using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
  • Ability to explain complex physical behavior, write structured technical reports, and align cross-functional teams on root causes and next steps.
  • Employment is subject to authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a frontier hardware or aerospace company.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work with a 60-person team combining AI engineering and applied physics expertise.
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance premiums are fully covered for employees and dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Daily lunch from local restaurants.
  • Relocation support is provided.
