Associate Director, Scientific Research (NGS)

Location: Singapore – Woodlands – NorthCoast; lab-based, full-time role

What you will do

• Lead the Singapore Assay R&D team in executing molecular biology and biochemistry research for novel multiomics NGS products.
• Develop scientific and business strategies aligned with organizational goals and company vision.
• Manage, coach, and develop scientists, managers, and other staff while ensuring delivery against project milestones.
• Oversee departmental operations, quality, compliance, budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Lead technology transfers, new process implementation, and scientific initiatives across multiple sites and global teams.
• Collaborate with R&D, Process Engineering, Operations, Business Development, Product Management, and QA.

Requirements

• Daily laboratory work is required.
• Strong leadership experience, including team development and management of multiple priorities.
• Ability to assess complex information, solve ambiguous problems, and develop actionable strategies.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of product development, operations, and regulatory environments.
• PhD or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related scientific discipline, plus 10+ years of reagent and product development experience.
