Associate Principal / Principal Scientist (Protein Science)

What you will do

• Lead the design, engineering, troubleshooting, and production strategy for bispecific, multivalent, Fc-fusion, and VHH antibody formats.
• Manage projects that generate structure-function insights to improve protein expression, stability, purity, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Oversee research associates and biotechnologists, providing technical guidance in protein science methodologies.
• Evaluate emerging antibody engineering, automation, and high-throughput technologies for scalable and reproducible production workflows.
• Develop AI-assisted design-for-manufacturability frameworks and translate computational predictions into experimentally validated constructs.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Process Development, Manufacturing, and external partners on technology transfer and biologics development.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Structural Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in antibody design, protein expression, and purification, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Strong expertise in bispecific antibody design and troubleshooting expression challenges.
• Demonstrated success in protein engineering to improve protein expression or other properties.
• Experience with biophysical protein characterization and protein-protein interaction assessment, including techniques such as SPR and mass spectrometry.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, supported by scientific publications, presentations, or conference participation.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation and high-throughput protein expression and purification.
• Experience translating computational design outputs into experimentally validated biologics constructs.
