Assistant Project Manager/Roadway Engineer (Civil Engineering)

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina, United States; full-time office-based role

Compensation: $118,489.97–$135,417.11 per year

What you will do

• Provide roadway and transportation design services for municipal, local government, and SCDOT improvement projects.
• Develop schematic and functional designs, roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing.
• Assist with utility coordination on small and mid-sized projects.
• Coordinate design development, quality deliverables, schedules, budgets, and technical direction for technicians, interns, and entry-level engineering specialists.
• Prepare specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, quality-control records, deliverable submittals, and invoices.
• Facilitate internal and client project meetings and maintain relationships with client technical staff and project managers.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of technical roadway design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• South Carolina Professional Engineer license required.
• Experience designing intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, or bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads Designer, SCDOT, and municipalities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and multidisciplinary engineering collaboration.

Nice to have

• NCDOT or GDOT experience.
• Experience with drainage, erosion control, and utility coordination.
