Machine Shop Technician

Location: Melrose Park, Illinois, USA; onsite

Salary: USD 22 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare testing materials and specimens received from customers.
• Cut, identify, and machine specimens for subsequent laboratory testing.
• Follow preparation and testing procedures, industry standards, specifications, and the SGS quality system.
• Provide technical assistance to staff and engineers.
• Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate order processing and communicate with staff and supervisors while supporting other departments as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 0–2 years of related experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced professional environment.
• Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, loud noise, and frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in a relevant field.
• Training or experience operating sheet metal shears, metal-cutting band saws, heat-treatment furnaces, and related hand tools.
