TL;DR
Waste Management Compliance Specialist [DOE0088087] (Environmental Compliance): Supporting RCRA compliance, waste management oversight, regulatory inspections, and compliance reporting for DOE EM Hanford's nuclear cleanup programs with an accent on regulatory interpretation, safety documentation, and data QA/QC. Focus on evaluating waste management practices, compiling regulator-ready compliance packages, managing risks, and coordinating with regulators and stakeholders in a high-stakes environmental remediation setting.

Location: Richland, Washington, United States; work is conducted predominantly onsite at the Hanford Field Office and Hanford Site, with some remote support subject to approval.

What you will do

  • Support RCRA compliance and evaluate waste management practices against applicable guidelines.
  • Conduct regulatory inspections and independent evaluations of waste management operations and safety documentation.
  • Prepare reports and compile regulator-ready compliance packages.
  • Coordinate with regulators, stakeholders, and program personnel on compliance and waste management matters.
  • Support project and contract management, project controls, regulatory compliance, waste management, and groundwater remediation activities for DOE EM Hanford.
  • Identify and manage risks in a regulated nuclear cleanup environment.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of waste or environmental compliance experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
  • HAZWOPER qualification.
  • Experience with regulatory interpretation and data QA/QC.
  • Strong attention to detail, risk awareness, and communication skills.
  • Facility Clearance is required; a DOE clearance may be required based on the assigned task.

Nice to have

  • Department of Energy experience.
  • Environmental Management Sector experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio.
