Manager, Government Relations - West Region

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; responsibility for government relations across California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Travel required 30–40% of the time.

Salary: $136,000–$200,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead government relations and public engagement efforts across California and the U.S. Southwest.
• Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, community leaders, civic leaders, and other regional stakeholders.
• Drive public engagement campaigns and advance favorable policy solutions.
• Manage complex policy issues and translate them into clear, actionable written updates.
• Coordinate with Public Affairs, Communications, Legal, and other business functions.
• Manage external consultants, coalitions, peer-company counterparts, and industry trade associations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university.
• 4+ years of experience in state-level government or direct public policy work for corporate clients.
• Deep understanding of government relations, lobbying strategies, direct engagement, issue campaigns, and coalition building.
• Strong strategic thinking, written advocacy, oral advocacy, and public engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve difficult policy outcomes while working effectively under pressure.
• Willingness to travel 30–40% of the time.

Nice to have

• Government and in-house experience.
• Direct experience with employment or labor law policy.
• Significant state-level experience in California.
• Technology industry experience, particularly in the on-demand economy.
