CNC Machinist (Rotating Shift)

Location: Onsite at the Stoney Creek manufacturing plant in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Rotating shifts every two weeks, Monday–Friday: 7:00 am–3:00 pm and 3:00 pm–11:00 pm.

Salary: CAD 65,000–82,000 per year, plus a CAD 1.25 per hour afternoon-shift premium.

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines and turning centers, including multiple machines when required.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, GD&T, tolerances, and dimensional requirements.
• Prepare tooling, offsets, and fixture alignment, and edit existing CNC programs.
• Machine precision components from materials including aluminum, brass, cast iron, alloy steels, and plastics.
• Verify component conformance using micrometers, vernier calipers, CMM equipment, and other measuring instruments.
• Follow preventative maintenance and safety procedures, assist with repairs, and support continuous improvement and operator training.

Requirements

• Over five years of experience in related or subordinate work, plus six months of on-the-job training.
• High school education plus two years of technical training.
• Strong hands-on experience with CNC milling or turning operations and familiarity with G-code and CNC machine controls.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding tolerances, dimensions, and shop mathematics.
• Red Seal certification or equivalent experience; manual lathe and mill operation experience is an asset.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; ability to work onsite in a loud manufacturing environment and lift up to 35 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with Mazak Mill-Turn, Okuma, and Haas machines.
• CNC programming experience at the machine or offline.
• Experience operating manual lathes and mills.
