Construction Inspector (Sewer/Water Infrastructure)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; full-time field-based position in the Chicagoland area

Salary: $74,400–$111,000 annually

What you will do

• Inspect sewer cleaning and lining operations for compliance with contract specifications, safety standards, and municipal requirements.
• Verify traffic control setups, permits, materials, installation processes, and overall field quality according to CDOT, IDOT, and project specifications.
• Document quantities, prepare progress reports, and support monthly payment estimates.
• Review sewer televising footage and evaluate existing and post-construction conditions.
• Coordinate notifications and scheduling with contractors, City departments, Aldermen, residents, and other stakeholders.
• Identify defects, prepare investigation reports, and support staff training, regulatory coordination, and safety documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field.
• 3–5 years of experience with construction field activities on sewer or water infrastructure projects.
• Experience with sewer and water construction projects.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Strong commitment to innovation, integrity, collaboration, and sustainable technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
• Licensed professional engineer status.
• GIS experience.
