Utility Inspector (Transportation)

Location: North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, United States; daily travel to roadway and bridge project sites is required. Night and weekend work may be required, with limited overnight travel possible.

Compensation: $61,899–$70,339 per year

What you will do

• Perform utility relocation verification for highway and bridge construction projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with utility relocation plans.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and document completed work through measurements.
• Read and interpret utility relocation plans.
• Communicate with project staff and clients in written and verbal formats.
• Apply construction safety principles while working outdoors and supporting project teams.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in utility installation, utility inspection, or construction inspection.
• Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work safely outdoors in all weather conditions and remain consistently alert.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, and walk or stand for extended periods while performing manual tasks.
• Basic computer and tablet, including iPad, skills.
