Principal Rotating Equipment Engineer

Location: La Porte, Texas preferred; Houston, Port Arthur, or Beaumont, Texas may also be considered. Hybrid work across office, plant, and shop environments; travel to operating facilities is required.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot rotating equipment issues and failures using operating trends, inspection findings, maintenance history, and field observations.
• Participate in root cause and failure analyses, define inspection scopes, and support corrective action plans.
• Provide technical support during overhauls, turnarounds, outages, inspections, and machinery repairs.
• Support performance monitoring, preventive and predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and vendors to evaluate machinery performance and recommend improvements.
• Support re-rating, optimization, and reliability upgrades for compressors, pumps, turbines, expanders, blowers, gearboxes, cooling towers, fin-fans, cryogenic pumps, and auxiliary systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, maintaining, designing, or improving rotating equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, refining, chemical, petrochemical, LNG, power generation, industrial gas, OEM, or related environment.
• Working knowledge of compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers, expanders, gearboxes, and associated systems.
• Familiarity with vibration analysis, condition monitoring, failure analysis, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, or reliability engineering.
• Ability to support plant, shop, and field-based work, including occasional after-hours support and required travel.
• Clear communication, organization, collaboration, independent working ability, and practical problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hydrogen compression, HyCO, air separation units, process compressors, cryogenic pumps, API 610 pumps, API 617 compressors, rotor dynamics, PSM, FMEA, or reliability-centered maintenance.
• TWIC card, PE license, CMRP, CRE, or vibration analysis certification.
