Senior Payroll Consultant (Payroll Compliance)

Location: Mostly remote, with candidates required to live within 50 miles of a hirify.global office in Texas, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania.

Salary: $49,500–$118,990 per year.

What you will do

• Support payroll consulting engagements for clients across industries and geographies.
• Assess and improve payroll processes, controls, procedures, and system configurations.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews covering federal, state, and local regulations.
• Prepare and review payroll tax forms and filings, including Forms 941, 941-X, and W-2C.
• Analyze payroll data, employee classification, wage treatment, and overtime calculations to identify discrepancies and risks.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams, communicate findings clearly, and deliver projects accurately and on time.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in consulting, payroll services, or an in-house payroll function.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, payroll tax filings, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Paycom, Paycor, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools; Certified Payroll Professional certification is strongly preferred or may be in progress.
