Care Extender / Peer Support Specialist - Foster Care

Location: North Carolina; must reside in Henderson County. The position is primarily virtual from a home office, with community-based travel and in-home member visits. Hybrid schedule: 1–2 days per week in the office; candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the posting location.

What you will do

• Engage members, caregivers, and families and identify opportunities for support.
• Build relationships with community partners and local stakeholders.
• Partner with community peer-support services to create referral pathways.
• Connect members and caregivers with appropriate peer-support resources and expertise.
• Support care managers advocating for foster parents and other caregivers with agencies and systems.
• Develop strategies for peer-support programs and help resolve broader systems issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Residence in Henderson County, North Carolina, and ability to commute to the office 1–2 days per week are required.
• Ability to travel in the community and conduct in-home member visits.
