TL;DR
Youth Support Navigator - Certified Youth Peer Support Specialist (Youth Peer Support): Providing non-clinical, evidence-based peer support and recovery planning for youth ages 14–21 with mental health or substance use needs with an accent on advocacy, wellness self-management, and resilience. Focus on building individualized wellness plans, supporting transitions to community-based care, and strengthening self-advocacy through in-person community engagement.

Location: Hybrid in southern New Mexico; must reside in the southern region of New Mexico, meet members in person 3–4 times per week, and travel within the community.

Salary: $41,505–$62,255 annually, with actual pay adjusted based on location, skills, experience, education, and other permitted factors.

What you will do

  • Provide one-to-one, non-clinical peer support to youth ages 14–21 with mental health or substance use needs.
  • Guide youth through individual recovery and wellness planning using evidence-based frameworks, including the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
  • Support transitions from inpatient, residential, and alternative care settings to community-based recovery supports.
  • Help youth build empowerment, self-advocacy, problem-solving, resilience, and wellness skills.
  • Conduct proactive outreach, support enrollment, and educate youth, providers, and internal staff on recovery and resiliency practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, participate in supervision and training, and travel to meet youth in the community.

Requirements

  • Self-identified person in recovery with lived experience of youth or young-adult mental health or substance use services.
  • Completed training and certification as a Youth Peer Support Specialist.
  • GED or high school education.
  • Reliable vehicle and ability to travel within the community.
  • Knowledge of local mental health, substance use, and community systems; recovery, resiliency, wraparound, wellness planning, and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
  • Strong communication, documentation, independent decision-making, and teamwork skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, mobile apps, and web-based platforms.
