Tool and Die Maker Apprentice

Location: Carpentersville, Illinois, United States. Daytime hands-on work is completed at the OTTO Tech Center; evening classroom training is held through the Technology and Manufacturing Association in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Hourly rate: $18.00 per hour

hirify.global designs and manufactures mission-critical products and short-run tooling through high-speed, large-volume stamping dies.

What you will do

• Operate tool-room equipment, including saws, mills, drill presses, grinders, lathes, wire EDM, and CNC milling machines.
• Build and assemble new tools and learn metal stamping and die setup.
• Perform machine maintenance and understand press operation.
• Interpret tooling prints and apply statistical process control (SPC).
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and support related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma and completion of an industrial technology high school program or equivalent.
• Willingness to develop a career in the machining and tool-and-die trade.
• Good communication and organizational skills, consistent attendance, and attention to neat appearance.
• Availability for nonstandard or extended work schedules and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to reach heights using a stepladder and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
