Engineer II, Mechanical (Sensors)

Location: Fully onsite in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $90,000–$115,000 annually, plus benefits and eligibility for up to a 10% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and packaging for disposable and reusable patient monitoring sensors.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
• Translate product requirements into reliable, manufacturable mechanical solutions using material selection, tolerance analysis, DFM, and DFA.
• Build prototypes and execute mechanical test plans for design verification, validation, reliability, environmental, and performance testing.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, suppliers, and other engineering teams on technical issues, design transfer, production implementation, and sustaining activities.
• Participate in design reviews, root-cause investigations, product improvements, and supplier tooling and manufacturability activities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience taking mechanical products from requirements and concept development through prototyping, testing, and production release.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with disposable or reusable medical device sensors, patient monitoring products, or other high-volume manufactured products.
• Experience with plastic injection molding, automated assembly, biomedical materials, adhesives, flexible materials, woven materials, or laminates.
• Knowledge of medical device design controls and FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, UL, ASTM, or ISTA standards.
• Experience with mechanical simulation, FEA, stress analysis, or rapid prototyping.
