Senior Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California, United States; full-time onsite presence five days a week. Relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year, plus stock options.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design efforts and serve as the responsible engineer for bringing hardware from concept to production.
• Research, design, develop, and test complex mechanical components, subassemblies, equipment, and systems.
• Perform system- and subsystem-level tolerance analysis and plan tests for feasibility, operation, design, and performance.
• Build, integrate, and validate hardware designs and newly developed systems or subsystems hands-on.
• Develop continuous improvement plans focused on system performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and developing mechanical systems.
• CAD experience, including GD&T and detailed drawing documentation.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and extensive hands-on hardware development experience.
• Ability to think at the systems level while performing detailed engineering work and delivering complex mechanical systems.
• Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for semiconductor, machining, automation, materials processing, additive manufacturing, robotics, CNC, biomedical manufacturing, or related industrial equipment.
• Advanced degree in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of motion control, kinematics, fluid systems, thermal systems, and electromechanical systems.
• Passion for improving metal 3D printing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
