Systems Engineer

Location: Traverse City, Michigan, United States. Hybrid flexibility may be available after initial in-person training, with work from home up to 3 days per week. Must be able to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

What you will do

• Install, configure, train users on, and support computer server hardware and software.
• Monitor server performance, identify potential hardware issues, and deploy appropriate fixes.
• Resolve technical problems involving server software applications and document incidents.
• Research and develop solutions for server hardware and software.
• Work with the IT team under supervision and follow industry best practices.

Requirements

• Experience with server installation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, web servers, Microsoft System Center products, Linux, server virtualization, and container administration.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions under supervision and work occasionally outside normal business hours.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar field is preferred; several years of relevant experience may be considered instead.
