Chief Technology Officer & VP of Engineering (Semiconductor)

Location: Toyosu, Koto-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Full-time onsite role; remote work is not available. The role is open to Japan-based candidates and globally based leaders who can commit to a 2 to 3-year assignment in Japan.

What you will do

• Define the long-term technology vision, architecture standards, and roadmap supporting product innovation and operational scale.
• Lead engineering organizations with clear expectations, delivery discipline, accountability, and high technical standards.
• Guide technical design, engineering practices, security posture, release management, reliability, and system stability.
• Partner with IT, AI, platform, Product, Operations, Security, Data, and Go-to-Market leaders to enable AI adoption and align technology investments with business priorities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies including automation, cloud modernization, and developer productivity tools, while managing vendors and technology partnerships.
• Own technology budgeting, capacity planning, investment prioritization, and executive communication with the CEO, board, and leadership team.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience shaping technology strategy, leading global engineering organizations, and delivering business outcomes.
• Proven experience scaling technology platforms, processes, and teams for growth, operational efficiency, and market expansion.
• Strong technical foundation across cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, data platforms, and emerging AI technologies.
• Experience advising executive leadership and boards, influencing strategic decisions, and aligning technology investments with business priorities.
• Collaborative leadership experience across Product, Engineering, IT, Data, AI, Security, and Operations.
• Ability to commit to a 2 to 3-year assignment in Japan; the role is onsite in Tokyo and does not offer remote work.
