What you will do

• Define and lead the technical vision and roadmap for database infrastructure.
• Oversee the stability of mission-critical database systems and lead incident response.
• Manage, mentor, and hire a diverse team of Database Reliability Engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Platform Infrastructure, SRE, and Observability.
• Drive initiatives for cost optimization and architecture improvements without compromising reliability.
• Lead critical cloud-native migrations and define long-term operational models.

Requirements

• Experience managing or leading an engineering team with a focus on SRE, DBRE, or Infrastructure.
• Proven track record in managing incidents and conducting post-mortem processes.
• Technical background in database technologies like MySQL, TiDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of database internal architecture, performance tuning, and high availability.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical risks to stakeholders.
• English: B2 level required
• Japanese: B2 level required

Nice to have

• Experience with FinOps or cloud cost management.
• Background in software development (Go, Python) to understand developer experience.
• Knowledge of modern SRE practices, including SLO/SLI definition.
