TL;DR
Intern (Manufacturing Engineering) (Aerospace): Supporting the design, documentation, integration, manufacturing, and testing of military aerospace equipment and ground-vehicle products with an accent on CAD modeling, 2D drawings, manufacturing processes, and engineering change documentation. Focus on applying CATIA V5 and SolidWorks, developing technical solutions, releasing drawings, and coordinating deliverables across engineering, production, quality, and logistics teams.

Location: Inglewood, California, United States; onsite office environment

Salary: $20.00–$25.00 hourly

What you will do

  • Support the engineering design cycle from concept development through integration, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Contribute to the design and manufacturing of rail launchers, bomb racks, and ground vehicles.
  • Use CATIA V5, SolidWorks, PDM, Adobe, and Microsoft Office for design and documentation support.
  • Prepare engineering change requests, engineering change notices/orders, and drawing releases.
  • Coordinate deliverables with production, planning, engineering, quality, contracts, logistics, and support personnel.
  • Learn and apply hirify.global processes, procedures, and technical tools.

Requirements

  • Must be a sophomore, junior, senior, or postgraduate student in mechanical engineering or a related field by the start of summer.
  • Understanding of manufacturing or mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, drafting, mechanical design, and drawing release.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly.
  • Ability to solve problems, manage change, identify issues, and collaborate with multiple functional groups.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee.

Nice to have

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Prior engineering project or internship experience.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam PDM.
  • Knowledge of metal galvanic compatibility and GD&T under the ASME Y14.5 standard.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience working on diverse cross-functional teams.
