Intern (Mechanical Engineering) (Aerospace)

Location: Inglewood, California, United States; 100% onsite. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR export control requirements.

Salary: $20.00–$25.00 hourly, based on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Support the mechanical, manufacturing, and tooling engineering departments.
• Gain experience across the engineering design cycle, from concept development and integration through manufacturing and testing.
• Support the design, documentation, technical solutions, and manufacturing of rail launchers, bomb racks, and ground vehicles.
• Use CATIA V5, SolidWorks, PDM, Adobe, and Microsoft Office tools for engineering documentation and design support.
• Prepare and support Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Notices/Orders, and drawing releases.
• Collaborate with production, planning, engineering, quality, contracts, subcontract, logistics, and support personnel.

Requirements

• Be a sophomore, junior, senior, or postgraduate student in mechanical engineering or a related field by the start of summer.
• Understand mechanical and manufacturing engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis.
• Demonstrate proficiency in CAD modeling, drafting, release, and mechanical design techniques.
• Have general knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, assembly, and documentation.
• Be able to identify issues, solve problems, manage change, and work effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Meet ITAR requirements as a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee.

Nice to have

• Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Prior engineering project or internship experience.
• Experience with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam PDM.
• Knowledge of GD&T under the ASME Y14.5 standard.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and experience working with diverse cross-functional teams.
