Senior Process Engineer (HYCO)

Location: Jubail, Saudi Arabia; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Provide senior technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for HYCO process engineering across regional operating facilities.
• Support plant operations, new installations, modifications, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, turnarounds, and maintenance activities.
• Develop, maintain, and validate steady-state and dynamic Aspen Plus models for benchmarking, debottlenecking, troubleshooting, and energy optimization.
• Lead process safety activities including MOC, OPHR, PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, and PSM compliance initiatives.
• Improve productivity, reliability, quality, throughput, and operating costs through data analytics, process statistics, APC, RTO, and continuous improvement methods.
• Mentor process engineers, lead technical investigations and root cause analyses, and coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; a master’s degree is an advantage.
• At least 12 years of engineering or operations experience in industrial gases, refining, petrochemicals, methanol, ammonia, or hydrogen production.
• Experience with Steam Methane Reformers, HYCO and CO₂ production systems, plant operation, commissioning, and start-up.
• Strong proficiency in Aspen Plus, process simulation, process statistics, data analytics, and process engineering calculation tools.
• Technical knowledge of heterogeneous catalysts, including HDS, ZnO, pre-reforming, SMR, HTS, LTS, and methanation systems.
• Knowledge of PSM, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MOC, OPHR, APC, RTO, and applicable EHS requirements; proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Arabic language skills.
• Formal Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training and experience with continuous improvement tools.
• Experience across multiple technologies, including ASU, HYCO, and CO₂ production.
