Financial Engineering – Project & Structured Finance Analyst

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. Preferred locations include Southern California, Northern California, and the Seattle metropolitan area; remote work arrangements may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Salary: $75,000–$125,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own significant portions of financial analyses and transaction workstreams in partnership with senior bankers.
• Develop, maintain, audit, and enhance Excel-based models covering debt capacity, project feasibility, financing alternatives, capital structures, cash flows, and asset sales.
• Build financing models with multiple debt instruments, layered capital structures, cash flow waterfalls, credit enhancement features, and alternative scenarios.
• Design and evaluate financing structures that improve access to capital for public-purpose borrowers.
• Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, optimization modeling, and other quantitative analyses.
• Prepare presentations, financing proposals, and analytical materials, while identifying opportunities to improve workflows through automation and AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in finance, financial engineering, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, quantitative economics, operations research, or another highly quantitative discipline is suitable.
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated experience building sophisticated financial or quantitative models.
• Strong quantitative reasoning, mathematical aptitude, analytical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to quickly understand, audit, modify, and enhance complex financial models.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Three to six years of general experience; prior experience in public finance, project finance, structured finance, investment banking, quantitative finance, engineering, or another analytical field is preferred but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with linear optimization, mathematical programming, or other optimization techniques.
• Programming experience in Python, VBA, or similar analytical languages.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted analytical tools and emerging technologies in quantitative workflows.
