Specialist Electrician (Industrial Electrical Maintenance)

Location: Residence-based in Louisiana, United States, with significant travel to facilities across the United States and occasional international travel outside North America.

What you will do

• Inspect, repair, install, troubleshoot, modify, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, switchgear, protective relays, starters, and electrical distribution systems.
• Diagnose electrical and control system failures and provide technical expertise to resolve equipment issues.
• Develop refurbishment procedures, repair scopes, overhaul plans, technical reports, and equipment assessments.
• Support electrical reliability and maintenance activities across company, joint venture, subsidiary, and third-party facilities.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to execute electrical work safely and efficiently.
• Supervise maintenance crews and provide technical decision-making support for major repairs and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• High school diploma; relevant technical education is preferred, while relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
• At least 5 years of experience, preferably 10, in petrochemical or manufacturing environments involving low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment maintenance, startup, or commissioning.
• Practical knowledge of electrical distribution, motors and motor controls, conduit and wiring, lighting, grounding, and the National Electrical Code, including hazardous locations.
• Demonstrated supervisory and safe-work skills, strong basic computer skills, and the ability to work independently in a team environment.
• Ability to work extended hours, respond to plant needs on a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week basis when required, and travel on short notice.
• Ability to work in industrial environments across the United States, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and entering confined spaces.
