What you will do

• Plan, lay out, weld, install, test, and repair pipe and tubular products according to plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial oil-refining piping and associated structures.
• Interpret contract plans and specifications to install and repair piping systems.
• Inspect field conditions, identify inaccuracies and cost-saving opportunities, and take corrective action.
• Select appropriate filler metals and construction materials for assigned work.
• Supervise and train welder helpers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of welding experience, preferably in construction, mining, or a related industry.
• Successful completion of a welding qualification is required.
• Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW; experience with oxy-fuel welding and cutting is also relevant.
• Working knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes for piping systems, metal properties, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Ability to meet all applicable state licensing requirements and hold OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to work in Elko, Nevada, with potential travel and relocation as needed.

Nice to have

• Prior orbital welding experience.
• Two-year vocational-technical degree.
