Apprentice Sheet Metal Mechanic (HVAC)

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, United States; full-time on-site work

What you will do

• Learn to lay out and install commercial ductwork in varied job settings.
• Unload, move, handle, finish, and seal commercial-scale ductwork.
• Build and install duct hangers and assist with commercial HVAC equipment installation.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools while following strict workplace safety practices.
• Work from ladders, lifts, and roofs, including in confined spaces and changing weather conditions.
• Complete classroom learning, online coursework, at-home study, and skills training through the certified NCCER program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work safely, reliably, punctually, and as part of a team.
• Basic tape-measure math skills.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in extreme heat, cold, and bad weather.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday and lift or carry up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to reach overhead, crawl, squat, kneel, bend, use fine motor control, and work efficiently in confined spaces.

Nice to have

• Experience using hand tools and a tape measure.
• Previous apprentice credits that may transfer to the certified NCCER program.
• Military veteran experience.
