Apprentice Sheet Metal Mechanic (HVAC)

What you will do

• Learn to lay out and install commercial ductwork in varied job settings.
• Unload, move, handle, finish, and seal commercial-scale ductwork.
• Assist with installing commercial HVAC equipment.
• Work safely at heights using ladders, lifts, and rooftops, as well as in confined spaces.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools while completing classroom, at-home, and textbook-based training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform basic tape-measure math.
• Ability to work reliably as part of a team and maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, and bad weather.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday and lift or carry up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to crawl, squat, kneel, bend, reach above the shoulders, and use fine motor control with good vision and hand-eye coordination.

Nice to have

• Experience using hand tools and a tape measure.
• Previous apprentice credits that may transfer to the certified NCCER program.
• Military veteran experience.
