Special Education Instructor

Location: Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, United States; full-time, first shift, onsite.

What you will do

• Provide special instruction, therapeutic support, and skill development for differentiated learning levels.
• Conduct formal and informal student assessments and monitor progress throughout each student’s stay.
• Plan and adapt lessons, materials, activities, and equipment according to students’ Individualized Education Plans and accommodation needs.
• Prepare individualized plans, document grades, attendance, progress, IEP records, and disability program notes.
• Supervise assisting staff, advise personnel on accommodation plans, and provide annual Disability Program training.
• Coordinate communication and services with students, families, therapists, school district personnel, coworkers, and relevant agencies.

Requirements

• University degree in special education and a current special education teaching license in the state where services are provided.
• At least one year of experience working with students with disabilities aged 16–24.
• Knowledge of the Unique Learning curriculum and ability to integrate educational technology into classes.
• Puerto Law 300 Certification and a Puerto Rico driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, teamwork, flexibility, and cultural awareness skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to identify resources that help students overcome barriers to program completion.

• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder.
• Bilingualism.
