What you will do

• Teach GED preparation, TABE reading and math preparation, and high school diploma classes.
• Provide instruction in social skills, employability skills, applied academics, and project-based learning.
• Plan relevant lessons and use competency-based instruction, computer-assisted instruction, and cooperative learning techniques.
• Manage the classroom, maintain student engagement, and support effective learning and discipline.
• Track attendance, math gains, TABE achievements, student progress, evaluations, and case notes.
• Participate in team, departmental, and staff meetings; complete reports, training, drills, and student retention activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Teaching certification in the state where the center is located is required; certification may be waived only if the center cannot hire a certified teacher, with certification then required to be pursued.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Ability to analyze information, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting information to students, colleagues, managers, and the public.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
