TL;DR
Head of APAC Compliance (Financial Services): Overseeing and strengthening Northern Trust’s APAC compliance framework and Asset Servicing compliance function with an accent on regulatory compliance, conduct risk, financial crimes compliance, and regulatory engagement. Focus on leading cross-jurisdictional governance, monitoring and mitigating emerging risks, advising executives and regulators, and building accountable matrixed teams.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute the APAC compliance strategy in alignment with business objectives, regulatory expectations, and risk appetite.
  • Lead the end-to-end APAC compliance program, including regulatory compliance, conduct risk management, monitoring, testing, controls, and quality assurance.
  • Serve as APAC Head of Compliance and APAC Asset Servicing Chief Compliance Officer, aligning business and legal entity compliance frameworks.
  • Act as the primary compliance contact for regional regulators and lead examinations, inquiries, remediation activities, and regulatory reporting.
  • Advise senior management and business partners on APAC compliance risks, regulatory developments, and significant incidents.
  • Build a high-performing compliance organization through matrix leadership, professional development, succession planning, and resource management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive compliance experience.
  • Deep knowledge of APAC regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of compliance risk management, conduct risk, and financial crimes compliance.
  • Experience leading in both direct-reporting and matrixed environments.
  • Ability to influence regulators, boards, and executive leadership, with strong strategic thinking, analytical, communication, and judgment skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD, MBA, CAMS, or other advanced qualifications preferred.
