Assistant General Counsel (Cybersecurity, Data & AI)

Location: Singapore; primarily in the office

What you will do

• Advise business, technology, and risk stakeholders on cybersecurity legal risks, incident response, data breaches, ransomware, and regulatory notifications across APAC.
• Provide legal advice on data protection, data governance, cross-border transfers, localisation, consent, and high-risk processing assessments.
• Advise on AI governance, accountability, transparency, bias mitigation, responsible AI frameworks, and emerging regulations.
• Draft and negotiate cloud, SaaS, outsourcing, cybersecurity, data processing, licensing, and technology services agreements.
• Support cyber resilience, third-party risk management, digital transformation, regulatory engagement, and internal audit activities.
• Collaborate with global legal, compliance, risk, and IT teams; provide training and manage external counsel where required.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years of in-house or private practice experience in technology, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of APAC data protection regimes, cybersecurity regulatory frameworks, and AI governance.
• Understanding of financial services-specific information security requirements.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders across multiple APAC jurisdictions and working through significant organisational change.
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice in Singapore.
• Working proficiency in Mandarin and English.
