After School Instructor (Education)

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; regular school-based shifts during the instructional year, with possible summer, weekend, and intersession work.

Starting rate: $18–$19 per hour

What you will do

• Provide academic assistance, intervention support, recreational programming, and enrichment activities for small groups and whole classes.
• Lead engaging activities in areas such as sports, multimedia, art, dance, theater, robotics, and school publications.
• Supervise students, prioritize safety, and help maintain an organized and effective program.
• Support classroom teachers and assist with event planning.
• Maintain attendance records, enter data, and report on student progress and behavior.
• Attend school-based meetings, training sessions, and required professional development.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; a KIPP assessment is required before the interview.
• Associate degree or at least two years of coursework at a four-year college preferred.
• Prior experience working with elementary or middle school students in an academic or recreational setting strongly preferred.
• Ability to lead student groups while maintaining a high priority on safety.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students.
• Availability for a regular shift from August through June: Mondays approximately 12:30–6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays–Fridays approximately 2:30–6:30 p.m.
