Middle School ELA Teacher (Immediately Hiring)

Starting salary: $50,500 annually for first-year teachers with a bachelor's degree

What you will do

• Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned English Language Arts and reading instruction for middle school students.
• Design lessons and academic tasks that develop analysis, reasoning, writing, problem-solving, and structured discourse.
• Use modeling, guided practice, differentiation, and targeted supports to help diverse learners access grade-level content.
• Establish a safe, structured classroom culture with strong routines, high expectations, productive struggle, and student accountability.
• Use frequent checks for understanding, analyze student responses, provide actionable feedback, and adjust instruction in real time.
• Collaborate with school leaders, instructional coaches, teachers, student support staff, students, and families to improve outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related content area.
• At least two years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Valid Missouri Teacher Certification.
• Demonstrated ability to improve student achievement, use data to close learning gaps, and plan high-quality standards-aligned lessons.
• Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to improving outcomes for historically underserved students.

Nice to have

• Experience in a high-performing, data-driven school environment.
• Experience with standards-aligned curricula and assessment systems.
• Leadership experience within a grade level, content team, or school initiative.
