TL;DR
Field Support Specialist (Western Region) (Utility-Scale Solar): Providing advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, testing, and repair for solar equipment and electrical systems across multiple facilities with an accent on inverters, SCADA, low-, medium-, and high-voltage systems. Focus on diagnosing system-level failures, performing root cause analysis, coordinating regional corrective maintenance, and documenting technical resolutions.

Location: Full-time on a jobsite in the Western region, with approximately 75% travel across the assigned region

Compensation: $38.72–$50.34 per hour

Infrastructure services provider designing, building, and maintaining utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects.

What you will do

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, electrical testing, and repairs across multiple solar facilities.
  • Diagnose inverter, combiner, tracker, medium-voltage, substation-adjacent, communications, and telemetry issues.
  • Use SCADA, system monitoring applications, and plant data to identify equipment-level and system-level failures.
  • Support root cause analysis, recommend measures to prevent repeat failures, and contribute to process and technology improvements.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance with site personnel, Field Service Leads, operations control, project management, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed work orders, corrective action reports, non-conformance closeout records, technical summaries, and equipment records.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in utility-scale solar or a related electrical power industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical testing, troubleshooting, DC electrical theory, PV arrays, inverters, transformers, protection devices, control systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Valid OSHA 10 certification and NFPA 70E Safety Training certification required; OSHA 30 is preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills, strong organization, and the ability to work independently at remote sites in extreme weather.
  • Ability to travel approximately 75%, including overnight and extended assignments, and work on call during weekends or after hours. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree or certificate in electronics, electrical technology, or mechanics.
  • OSHA 30, substation training or certifications, and inverter Field Application Specialist certifications.
