Solar & BESS Technician I (Solar Energy)

Location: Onsite at the Bellefield Solar project in Mojave, California; candidates must live in the general Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area or be willing to relocate before the start date.

Salary: $28.50–$34.21 per hour, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Perform and assist with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance at utility-scale solar PV, BESS, and substation facilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, and AC/DC collection equipment.
• Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders and operate electrical and mechanical power-plant systems.
• Use maintenance management systems and support technical and administrative plant-operating duties.
• Assist with vegetation management, plant procedures, operating instructions, and other site documentation.
• Perform work independently or as part of field crews while following environmental and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Must be based in the Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area of California or willing to relocate before the start date.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with electrical systems and basic safety principles, including LOTO and electrical safety.
• Technical proficiency with standard business software; SCADA and computerized maintenance management systems experience is recommended.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to work outdoors, at heights, around energized equipment and hazardous materials, and during overtime or non-standard hours.

Nice to have

• Technical degree or solar certification.
• Experience with solar system installation.
• Basic electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory.
