Principal Accountant (Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting)

Location: Austin, TX, United States; workplace: on-site. Occasional travel may be required between Austin, TX; Westminster, CO; El Segundo, CA; and Melbourne, FL. What you will do

• Own and direct quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K.
• Lead preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, supporting schedules, and other disclosures.
• Coordinate reporting deliverables across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Human Resources, Operations, and Investor Relations.
• Evaluate and document complex accounting conclusions for significant, unusual, and judgmental transactions.
• Develop accounting policies, implement new accounting standards, and establish scalable reporting controls and governance.
• Advise senior management and coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and accounting advisors on technical accounting and reporting matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent advanced certification.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in financial reporting and technical accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX, internal controls, Regulation S-X, and Regulation S-K.
• Extensive experience with audits, public-company or IPO-ready environments, FAR/CAS, and government contracting accounting.
• Advanced technical writing and communication skills, plus experience with Excel, enterprise ERP, and reporting systems such as NetSuite, Workiva, or OneStream.
