Sr Staff Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Livermore, California; regular day shift

Salary: $163,400–$214,410 per year, depending on experience, skills, and background.

What you will do

• Develop robust mechanical design solutions for complex product issues and lead major engineering projects.
• Define probe card mechanical architectures, system-level strategies, and long-term technical direction.
• Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses and translate results into design improvements.
• Lead probe characterization, reliability testing, data reviews, root-cause analysis, and failure investigations.
• Create, review, and approve layouts, schematics, detailed drawings, specifications, standards, and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, field service, and customers on prototypes, design-for-manufacturing, design-for-assembly, and technical escalations.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a master's degree; or 5 years with a PhD; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Advanced mechanical design and precision machine design experience.
• Experience with 3D modeling, SolidWorks, Autodesk AutoCAD, FEA software, GD&T, thermal design, and error budgets.
• Experience with data analysis, MATLAB, and Python.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, solve ambiguous engineering problems, and mentor senior engineers.
• Ability to collaborate with manufacturing, quality, R&D, field service, and external customers.
