Sr Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite role

Salary: $117,800–$172,800 annually

What you will do

• Drive optomechanical and precision mechanism designs from requirements and feasibility studies through detailed design, prototype build, testing, and manufacturing release.
• Create detailed 3D solid models and drawings using Creo, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Perform fluid, thermal, and vibrational analysis using hand calculations and FEA modeling.
• Lead or participate in design reviews and coordinate cost and schedule tracking.
• Procure, assemble, and test prototype materials, supporting system integration and testing.
• Create assembly, test, and manufacturing handoff documentation.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience with 3D solid modeling.
• At least 1 year of experience with FEA and GD&T.
• Strong background in mechanism design and a basic understanding of optical subsystems.
• Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding fabrication, and castings.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Doctorate with no related experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
