Senior Traffic Engineer

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; onsite at the Hartford office

Salary: $146,678.11–$167,632.13 per year

What you will do

• Perform traffic engineering studies, transportation planning studies, and traffic impact analyses.
• Design traffic signal systems for CTDOT and Connecticut municipalities, including physical equipment and signal timings.
• Use VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic, and HCS for traffic simulation and operational analysis.
• Write and review traffic impact studies, analysis reports, technical proposals, and business development materials.
• Provide traffic input for environmental studies, roadway signing, pavement marking, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, and traffic signal operations.
• Coordinate with DOTs and local agencies, review contractor submittals, and support public information meetings.

Requirements

• BSCE degree or equivalent and 10–15+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; PTOE certification preferred.
• Experience with traffic signal design for CTDOT or Connecticut municipalities; NYCDOT, NYSDOT, MassDOT, or other agency experience is also considered.
• Experience in traffic safety, accessibility, crash data analysis, and development of crash countermeasures.
• Strong understanding of HCS, VISSIM, Synchro, and SimTraffic; proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and AutoTurn is desirable.
• Ability to meet project scope, schedule, and budget requirements and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
