TL;DR
Environmental Health and Safety Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Supporting environmental, health, and safety programs in a semiconductor manufacturing environment with an accent on hazardous waste, air permitting, wastewater, chemical management, and regulatory compliance. Focus on conducting inspections, investigating incidents, maintaining ISO 14001 documentation, and improving sustainability across energy, water, waste, recycling, and emissions.

Location: On-site in Beaverton, Oregon, with regular day-shift hours. On-site presence is required to support fab and facilities operations.

Salary: $60,600–$79,590 per year, plus benefits and potential quarterly profit-sharing bonuses.

What you will do

  • Support environmental compliance programs covering air, water, wastewater, hazardous waste, chemical management, and stormwater.
  • Manage hazardous waste documentation, labeling, accumulation areas, waste profiles, vendor pickups, and spill-response follow-up.
  • Assist with environmental audits, inspections, regulatory reporting, agency interactions, and non-compliance investigations.
  • Provide environmental support for fab operations, process engineering, facilities, and equipment teams, including reviews of new processes, chemicals, and equipment installations.
  • Maintain procedures, work instructions, records, and training materials, including support for ISO 14001 or equivalent EHS management systems.
  • Contribute to sustainability, waste reduction, and continuous-improvement initiatives involving energy, water, waste, recycling, and emissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • No previous professional experience is required; experience in manufacturing, electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated industrial environment is applicable.
  • Exposure to air permitting, wastewater systems, hazardous waste programs, spill response, or hazardous materials management.
  • Ability to follow procedures, document findings, investigate environmental issues, and collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and cleanroom environment with PPE and exposure to chemicals and industrial systems.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or other Environmental Management Systems concepts.
  • HAZWOPER training, such as 24-hour or 40-hour training, or the ability to obtain it.
  • CHMM or another relevant certification.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing experience.
